As we scale our Global Tax Team, we are now looking for a talented and exceptional Principal to join our team in Latin America (“LATAM”) and Canada. Based in São Paulo, this role will report to the Head of Tax for Latin America and Canada and proactively partner with our business leaders, Finance, Legal and Policy teams to anticipate and identify tax issues, recommend solutions, research and solve problems, support go-to- market strategies, and exercise good business judgment while performing these tasks and working closely with our US and international tax teams.

A Typical Day

• Oversees tax programs, processes or projects with increased resource requirements, risk, and / or complexity.
• Leads cross functional projects, interfacing with legal, operational and finance teams, to solve complex problems and lead regional tax product rollouts, transactions and partnerships.
• Partner with internal stakeholders (business leadership, Legal, Policy and Finance) and external advisers in response to the rapidly changing tax and legal landscape relating to technology companies.
• Provide trusted tax advice and interface with cross-functional teams as well as external tax advisers to implement tax strategies.
• Manage direct and indirect tax compliance, operations and accounting for Airbnb in Latin America and Canada.
• Manage outsourced tax compliance in the region, identify opportunities to mitigate tax liabilities and provide tax input on local statutory reporting.
• Manage direct and indirect tax audits and interactions with tax and governmental authorities throughout the region.
• Manage local, country and regional-level tax negotiations and implementations.
• Manage special projects in the region. Some international travel is expected (LATAM, Canada and other locations globally).
• Lead functional teams or tax projects with moderate resource requirements, risk and / or complexity, interacting with senior stakeholders.
• Consistently demonstrates core values and belonging behaviors. Coaches a group of diverse talent.

Your Location :

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant will need to be based in Sao Paulo, Brazil to be able to conduct their work.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as : training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range shown below is monthly, is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
