Purpose of the Position

An Asian financial institution, recognized as one of the largest and among the leading banks worldwide, with a strong presence across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. In Brazil, the institution focuses on corporate and investment banking, providing clients with tailored financial solutions.

With a global reputation for stability and long-term relationships, the institution continues to invest in innovation, cybersecurity, and sustainability, reinforcing its commitment to responsible growth and the protection of client interests in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.

The main idea of this role is to protect the institution’s ability to deliver critical banking services during disruption by owning and advancing the BCM – Business Continuity Management program processes. This is a hands-on, orchestration-heavy position that translates global continuity standards into effective local execution and audit-ready evidence.

Concretely, the role :

  • Leads the BCM lifecycle end-to-end : conducts BIAs (criticality, dependencies, RTO / RPO), maintains BCPs, and plans / coordinates tests (e.g., DR / switch-over validations, contingency site, VDI / endpoint readiness, evacuation drills, call tree), including out-of-hours windows.
  • Turns results into decisions : surfaces risks, residual exposures, and disclaimers to risk committees; drives lessons learned and closes open issues with robust documentation and owners / dates / evidence.
  • Connects BCM to the broader non-financial risk picture : interfaces with Operational Incidents, Vendor Risk, Products & Services, and RCSA so that continuity risks and control gaps are consistently identified, tracked, and remediated.
  • Bridges global and local : adapts global policy / standards to Brazil’s context, ensuring regulatory fit (BACEN) without diluting control integrity.
  • Influences without formal authority : engages senior stakeholders (e.g., Treasury and Operations leaders) to prioritize continuity activities, align on test windows, and validate outcomes; partners with IT / IS to validate DR without performing technical changes.

Main Challenges and Assignments

  • Operate the existing Business Continuity framework while continuously improving its maturity, expanding coverage, and strengthening evidence quality.
  • Organize and document activities using spreadsheets and manual controls, ensuring that all records are audit-ready and compliant with internal and external requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead continuity tests, including out-of-hours exercises, anticipating risks, resolving issues on the spot, and making sound, well-reasoned decisions.
  • Adapt global policies and methodologies to the Brazilian regulatory context, maintaining alignment with global standards and full compliance with BACEN requirements.
  • Engage and influence critical business areas, such as Treasury and Operations, to secure collaboration and prioritization of BCM activities without direct authority.
  • Map critical processes, conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIA), and maintain updated Business Continuity Plans (BCP).
  • Develop, update, and review continuity policies, standards, and procedures, while supporting the management of open issues, regulatory requirements, and action plans.
  • Deliver training to teams and managers on continuity and disaster recovery procedures, proactively monitor external events and news for potential risks
  • This role will also involve executing other operational risk programs such as Operational Incident Management, Vendor / Product & Service Risk Management, etc.
  • Experience and Professional Qualifications

  • Bring solid experience gained over several years in financial institutions, with a proven track record in Business Continuity Management, including BIA, BCP, and continuity testing.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of operational resilience practices, with exposure to RCSA, operational incident management, and vendor / third-party risk.
  • Be comfortable coordinating with IT and Information Security (IS) teams during disaster recovery validations, leading and validating outcomes without performing the technical execution.
  • Possess proficiency in Excel for data analysis and tracking, and PowerPoint for building clear, executive-level presentations and reports.
  • Communicate effectively in English at a level to interact with global stakeholders and follow corporate standards.
  • Hold a degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems / Computer Science, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Bank Policies and Regulations, familiarity with cyber risk policies, procedures, and regulations, and the ability to review and ensure compliance with these requirements [Differential].
