Overview
Sequencing.com is on a mission to make advanced whole genome sequencing accessible and actionable for everyone. We’re a startup at the intersection of SaaS, eCommerce, and health tech - offering DNA testing kits, secure DNA data storage, and a growing marketplace of reports and proprietary AI tools that help people understand their genetic data. We’re looking for a customer-obsessed, data-savvy, and outcome-oriented Product Manager to bring structure to our roadmap and help us scale with purpose. This is a senior individual contributor role with high visibility and strategic impact. You’ll be responsible for managing high-impact product initiatives across the platform, driving execution from discovery through delivery. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-ownership environment, demands excellence in execution, and leads with clarity and decisiveness. You must have a builder’s mentality and a proven track record of releasing successful consumer-facing products.
What You’ll Do
- Own and Drive the Product Roadmap : Maintain and enforce a focused product roadmap across our core platform, ensuring clarity of scope, priority, and impact. Track all features, bugs, and enhancements across Engineering, Design, Bioinformatics, and Customer Success.
- Lead Discovery & Customer Insight Work : Combine qualitative and quantitative approaches to deeply understand our customers. Actively engage with users through interviews, testing, and platform usage, while also analyzing product and behavioral data to uncover patterns, friction points, and opportunities. Use both first-hand insights and data-driven findings to anchor product direction in real customer needs and outcomes.
- Define & Scope Features : Translate customer insights and company goals into actionable product plans with clear documentation, timelines, and success criteria. Ensure projects are aligned with what moves the needle.
- Execution Leadership : Collaborate cross-functionally to scope, de-risk, and deliver high-quality features at startup speed. Push teams toward urgency and disciplined execution.
- Documentation Ownership : Write and maintain detailed product specs, user flows, success metrics, and timelines in Confluence and Jira. Your documentation will be the single source of truth.
- Jira & Process Stewardship : Own the ROAD Jira board, ensuring tickets are properly structured, linked, and prioritized. Proactively manage dependencies, identify blockers, and support delivery cadence.
- Product Communication & Strategic Thinking : Be a direct, clear communicator who can articulate priorities and say ‘no’ when needed. Protect the product from scope creep, stakeholder appeasement, or feel-good but low-impact projects.
- Align, but Don’t Please : Collaborate effectively with stakeholders while prioritizing product quality and outcomes over consensus or politics. Communicate hard decisions without soft-pedaling.
- Contribute to Product Culture : Raise the bar for quality, execution, and decision-making in a fast-paced startup environment. Help instill clarity, urgency, and discipline in the way we build.
What We’re Looking For
Customer-obsessed : You always start with the user and are proactive about talking to them. You’ve used our platform - or would have - before applying.5+ years of product management experience, ideally in SaaS, consumer subscription, or health tech.Highly data-driven : You can track and act on business and user metrics and apply analytical rigor to prioritize effectively.Proven track record of shipping and scaling consumer products, particularly subscription-based platforms.Strategic mindset : You can connect high-level goals with actionable plans, and keep long-term vision front and center.Mission-driven : You’re excited by the potential of genomics and motivated by real impact.Exacting standards : You push for excellence and aren’t afraid to raise the bar.Resilient to pushback : You don’t fold under pressure and remain firm when decisions are right.Direct communicator : You value clarity over ambiguity and fairness over comfort.Executional excellence : You have the organizational skills to juggle multiple initiatives while delivering results.Builder’s mentality : You earn respect through work product, not charm, and lead through doing.Respect without people-pleasing : You collaborate well but don’t need universal approval to drive results.About Sequencing
