Seeking to hire a Contractor based in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, Chile, or Mexico for senior-level Frontend Software Engineering services.ResponsibilitiesAs a Frontend Engineer Contractor, help the team deliver high-quality solutions for the main homepage of Newsela.com and contribute to the API development of the Content Service.Work in a fast-paced environment to manipulate different types of content and text data in a variety of shapes and sizes.Be a key contributor within a software development team, write quality code and automated tests to assure design and quality of code.Own delivery of features independently and provide thoughtful input that helps with scoping and design for the team.Work with the lead engineer to break down bodies of work, groom tickets, and organize sprints to ensure work is delivered.Report to the Director of Engineering and partner closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Product Design to refine ambiguous goals into clearly defined, iterative work items.Why You're a Great Fit5+ years of experience in software development in a SaaS environment with backend developers.At least 3+ years of experience as a senior member of a team.Built complex web applications with maintainable solutions that call various services and APIs.5 years of ReactJS experience with proficiency in JavaScript conventions.TypeScript knowledge is not required but preferred.Working knowledge of semantic HTML, responsive CSS, and frontend design patterns to meet team goals.Experience with accessibility guidelines for frontend work; AWS knowledge is a plus.Strong understanding of modern web app architecture and web fundamentals.Strong understanding of developer tooling and unit test writing.Experience with REST APIs.Good understanding of relational databases and how to read API endpoints and explore data relationships.Experience working on a full-stack team is preferred.Collaborative and inclusive mindset that supports continuous improvement through code reviews and feedback.Ability to identify missing requirements early in the development cycle, create and maintain performant and scalable backend systems, write resilient and testable code, and deliver on sprint commitments.Please note that given the nature of the contract, this role will not be eligible to participate in company-sponsored benefits.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionOtherE-Learning ProvidersReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at Newsela by 2xGet notified about new Contractor jobs in Brazil.Desenvolvedor(a) Full-Stack (Python + Next.js) — PlenoWe're unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
