About the Opportunity We are looking for Backend Engineers (Golang) to join Cloudflare's Billing Engineering team, a critical group responsible for powering all internal and external billing services — including customer onboarding, subscription management, payments, provisioning, and integrations with enterprise systems such as Anaplan, Oracle, Workday, and NetSuite.

We are seeking engineers who can ramp up quickly and deliver impact from day one.

The team works in a modern, container-based, microservices environment built primarily in Golang, using Kafka, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL at scale.

You'll be part of a collaborative 6-member team with additional developers supporting from adjacent projects.

Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain Golang-based microservices that power Cloudflare's billing systems.

Develop and integrate RESTful APIs that interface with external financial and operational systems.

Work with event-driven systems and streaming architectures using Kafka.

Manage containerized deployments using Kubernetes and Docker.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders across teams to deliver new features and maintain operational excellence.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues across distributed systems.

Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture planning sessions.

Contribute to continuous improvement of system reliability, scalability, and security.

Required Qualifications 5+ years of professional backend development experience.

Strong hands-on experience with Golang (or proven ability to quickly ramp up).

Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend microservices.

Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL).

Proficiency with Kubernetes and Docker for container orchestration and deployment.

Familiarity with event-driven systems (Kafka or similar).

Experience working in Unix / Linux environments.

Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment with multiple stakeholders.

Nice to Have Skills Experience integrating with ERP systems such as Oracle, Workday, Anaplan, or NetSuite.

Familiarity with API standards and tools (Swagger / OpenAPI, OAuth, JWT).

Exposure to Temporal or similar orchestration tools.

Knowledge of distributed systems, security best practices, and observability.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

Passion for building reliable, scalable, and user-centric systems at global scale.
