Hunter Douglas, a global leader in window coverings and architectural products, is seeking a Legal Director, Latin America to lead the region’s legal and compliance strategy. This position will serve as the senior legal advisor to the LATAM leadership team, providing strategic and practical legal support across the region, ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating risk, and supporting Hunter Douglas’ commercial operations, growth, and strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions. Key Responsibilities - Lead the legal function across Latin America, acting as a strategic business partner to the regional leadership team. - Advise on corporate, commercial, employment, regulatory, compliance, and litigation matters. - Lead the legal aspects of acquisitions and other strategic transactions, including due diligence, structuring, negotiation, documentation, approvals, closing and post-closing integrations. - Draft, review, and negotiate significant commercial agreements, including distribution, dealer, direct sales, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, and other contracts. - Develop and oversee litigation matters, including labor, tax, commercial and customer-related claims. - Lead Hunter Douglas’ regional compliance and ethics programs, including training and guidance on anti-corruption, competition law, sanctions, conflicts of interest, and internal investigations. - Provide legal support to Finance, Tax, Treasury, Human Resources, Operations, Intellectual Property, Products, and other corporate functions. - Manage external counsel and legal budgets across the region, ensuring efficient and high-quality legal support. - Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and compliance risks that may affect the company’s operations and strategic objectives. - Improve regional legal processes, contract templates, governance, and risk-management practices. - Ensure alignment with global corporate policies and applicable local laws. - Build strong relationships with regional and global business and functional leaders. Qualifications - Law degree and admission to practice in at least one Latin American jurisdiction. - At least 7 (seven) years of post-qualification legal experience, including significant experience in-house at a multinational company or with a leading law firm. - Demonstrated experience with M&A transactions and complex commercial matters. - Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, employment, compliance, litigation, and dispute resolution matters in Latin America. - Experience managing external counsel across multiple jurisdictions. - Strong business judgment, commercial awareness, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills. - Ability to advise and influence senior leaders and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced international environment. - Fluency in English, Portuguese, and Spanish
