Job Description
In general, the individual shall be able to provide expert and professional legal advice, guidance, and support to ensure that the legal and reputational risks faced by the country are identified, reported, and mitigated.
The candidate for this role will be expected to :
- Understand the key aspects of Corporate and Institutional Business (“CIB”) and provide legal support and clear, commercial, risk-mitigated advice to the CIB business in Brazil, including but not limited to Markets Securities Services, Global Trade and Receivables Finance, and Global Payments Solutions, particularly related to new initiatives, products, or projects like RTB (run the bank);
- Provide legal support to Procurement concerning legal risks on vendor agreements and Litigation;
- Support global and regional Legal teams, act as a trusted partner to the business, develop policies and procedures, and provide executive guidance, including presentations to the Exco and other stakeholders;
- Offer guidance to support HBBZ’s growth initiatives, including global or regional projects / propositions;
- Establish strong working relationships with internal clients, who are executives in responsible business areas and functions, and collaborate with the wider Legal team globally and regionally;
- Represent the Legal Function on the Legislative and Regulatory Committee, monitoring new laws and regulations affecting HBBZ activities;
- Represent the Legal Function on the Business Continuity Committee of MSS;
- Serve as a reference point for CIB Business and Procurement in Legal, contribute to monthly reports to the LAM region, and perform other steward roles as required by Legal Policy.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Law, enrolled in the Brazilian Bar Association, with at least 8 years of relevant post-qualification experience in the Brazilian banking industry working in Legal Department.Fluent in Portuguese and English; Spanish is a plus.Solid understanding of banking business, cross-border loan documentation, and principles of lending and security in Brazil.Master’s degree or LLM from qualified institutions or international work experience is advantageous.Ability to deliver clear, commercial, risk-mitigated legal advice.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Up-to-date knowledge of industry developments.Ability to handle diverse issues and work under pressure.Self-motivated, organized, with good prioritization skills.Flexible and adaptable to complex workloads.Problem-solving skills, open-mindedness, and solution-oriented approach.We value diverse skills and experiences.
